Dear Evinrude E-TEC Registered Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other applicable laws and regulations.

This notice is sent to you because our records indicate that you are the owner of an Evinrude E-TEC outboard affected by this recall. Your Evinrude E-TEC outboard requires an important service procedure.

What is the reason for this notice?

BRP US Inc. in the United States and Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. in Canada (collectively “BRP”) are conducting a voluntary EPA recall on certain Evinrude E-TEC 15�65 HP outboard.

What is the problem?

As defined in Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations, as a manufacturer, BRP is required to correct engines that may be emitting pollutants in excess of Federal emission standards. An incorrect fuel hose type contained in the fuel hose and primer bulb assembly may have been provided with the engine. This fuel hose type will emit fuel vapors that have been shown to harm the environment. This issue can be corrected by replacing the fuel hose and primer bulb assembly on the above listed outboard models.

Please note that if the engine is not serviced to correct this issue, it may fail a state or local emission test.

What should you do?

Contact an authorized Evinrude/Johnson dealer and make an appointment to have the fuel hose and primer bulb assembly inspected or replaced. This service will be performed at no charge. Transportation of the boat to the dealer and related hauling expenses are the responsibility of the owners.

What to do if you feel this notice is in error.

This notice was mailed to you according to the most current information we have available. Affected Evinrude E-TEC outboard(s) must be serviced. If you no longer own your Evinrude E-TEC outboard, kindly complete and return the enclosed postage-paid reply card, so we may update our records and contact the current owner about this important EPA recall.
